Dalmatia
Dalmatia is a coastal strip of land that stretches over 1.000 kilometres of Croatian coast, from island of Pag in the north to the border with Monte Negro in the south. Administratively, the region of Dalmatia is divided between north, central and southern parts with historical cities of Zadar, Šibenik, Split and Dubrovnik being the major administrative, cultural and economic centres of Dalmatian region.
The area is famous for its all-year-round Mediterranean climate, laid back lifestyle, Mediterranean gastronomy, renowned wineries and thousand island’s coast. From Croatian eight national parks, the region is home to four, including Kornati islands, Mljet island and Krka waterfalls. The numerous islands, magnificent natural beaches, untouched nature and historic Mediterranean cities make Dalmatian coast an international hot spot for sailing and yachting lifestyle. Culturally, the region is especially known for the world famous Roman palace in Split, built by the roman emperor Diocletian who in his late years abdicated the throne and retreated to the magnificent Dalmatian coast.
With major airports in Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar and Zagreb, Dalmatia has strong travel links to most major European cities. With Hamburg, London, Paris and Vienna all within a few hours' reach, Dalmatia is a unique Mediterranean paradise in the heart of Europe.
